Why The Ukulele Is The Best Instrument Ever

There’s something about the ukulele that just makes you smile. It makes you let your guard down. It brings out the child in all of us.

I believe that everybody feels the need to express themselves artistically, in order to be a happy, content and wholesome person. Not everybody gets the chance to develop the necessary skills though. You may lack the financial means, motivation or guidance. Still, it is rare, that somebody has never used their own, natural instrument: Their Voice. Singing, like dancing, comes natural to us, whereas learning an instrument takes time, costs money and is associated with hard work. This is, where the ukulele steps in as some kind of superhero of the instrument family:

  • It’s cheap! Ukulele prices start at around 20 EUR, you can get a very good concert ukulele for 55 EUR here >>
  • It’s compact! The ukulele comes in different sizes (Soprano, Concert, Tenor & Bass) but is in any case very compact. With approximately 500gr weight and under 40cm in length, it’s easy to take with you anywhere: On a plane, on your bike, to the beach…
  • It’s easy to learn & play! With only 4 strings (two less than a guitar) it’s very easy to learn basic chords and accompany a lot of popular songs. There are many and mostly free sources online to learn play the ukulele. This is an instrument you can learn via YouTube or blogs no matter where you are in the world.
  • It helps you sing & even compose! You feel like a pro, when you can sing along to the chords you strum on your ukulele. The more you play and sing, the more tunes and melodies come popping up in your mind. Creativity takes its toll and maybe you’ll start composing songs of your own. You might not be able to help yourself…
  • It makes you the star of the party! Most people like to sing, even if they are shy about it. You’ll be the star of any party, when you spread the joy of uniting everybody around a song…
  • It makes you happy! This cute Hawaiian instrument, puts you in beach-sun-holiday mood the moment you start strumming its strings. Perfect to lighten up your grey mood on a grey day.

So, don’t overthink it. Make your soul happy and start playing the ukulele today 🙂 If I haven’t been able to convince you yet, maybe Israel “IZ” Kamakawiwoʻole will…
